Yelp provides crowd source reviews about local business and helps uncover the neighborhood. If you are looking for an awesome burger nearby or looking for a renowned cardiologist, Yelp can help discover the best.
When a new (person who does not have a Yelp account) user, logs on to Yelp, the search bar and few restaurant option appears. The main intent as projected on this screen is to help/ encourage the user to create a yelp account.
While the intent and purpose of Yelp is well messaged, “People use Yelp………” does not seem to capture the real attention. Each user comes to yelp with a different intent. This sentence conveys what Yelp could be used for but by messaging in the global “people” context, the individual connection seems to be lost.
Instead, the following message could convey the same idea but also create a personal connection to the user.
This attempts to put the user at the centre and message accordingly. This could create a better person connection and emotion for the Yelp brand, thus increasing the engagement.
